Today, we will get into groups of 3 or 4 to discuss our introductions, theses, and supporting quotations.
Each group needs to do the following items in 20-25 minutes. Then we will reconvene and share the information with each other.
1) read the introductions to the small group. 2) the author must explain how he/she plans to use the two quotations in the essay (for support, as a counter argument, as evidence for a minor point in the thesis....) 3) the group must choose the most successful intro and thesis. Decide why. What does it do that the others do not? How well are the supporting quotations going to be used in the essay? 4) a person other than the author must share the "winning intro" with the class so that we can review it as well.
