Research Area

  • Professor Stuhr's research interests include Political philosophy, ethics, 19th and 20th century American and European philosophies, philosophy and contemporary cultures.

Current Research

  • Current research includes three book projects: American Pragmatism (for Blackwell Publishers, 2003), Experience and Criticism (Vanderbilt University Press, 2003), and Forgiveness and the Unforgivable: Life Without Consolation (completion in 2004). In addition, Professor Stuhr is working on several essays in American Philosophy, ethics, and globalization.
