Vanderbilt University's Center for Molecular and Atomic Studies at Surfaces (CMASS) has active research programs in linear and non-linear optics, time-resolved ultra-fast spectroscopy, and spintronics. Experimental facilities include an array of ultrafast intense lasers (covering mid-infrared to UV) including the Vanderbilt Free Electron Laser (FEL), FTIR, a 9T superconducting magnet, and an ion implantation facility.
