We hope you return to Vanderbilt with the same enthusiasm that you had as you prepared to go abroad. Dont lose site of your new insights and perspectives just because youre back home. Continue your international experiences and contribute to campus life. Heres how:
Drop by International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) and learn about programs that support international educational opportunities on campus.

| - Remember what its like to be a stranger in a foreign country? Why not befriend an international student at Vanderbilt and help them adjust to American culture? Join First Friends, a program designed to facilitate cross-cultural exchange through friendship.
- Educate local Nashville school children about your study abroad host culture. Vanderbilt Partners for International Education (V-PIE) is a volunteer speakers program that coordinates school visits for Vanderbilt students - both international students and study abroad returnees - to speak about countries and cultures outside the U.S.
- Be a cultural ambassador on campus! Share your study abroad experiences or host another topic of international interest during World on Wednesdays. World on Wednesdays (WOW) is a weekly lunchtime discussion series open to the campus. Come learn as an attendee or present a WOW session.
- Take part in International Education Week, a nationally recognized event each November, celebrated with an entire week of educational programs. At Vanderbilt, IEW events are coordinated by ISSS, Study Abroad Programs and other Vanderbilt departments and Nashville community organizations. Learn about ITAP, International Teaching Assistants Program, partnering rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors with international TAs. ITAP volunteers help international TAs improve to their English language skills and to learn more about U.S. culture. By now you are pros at interacting with people from different cultures ITAP allows you the opportunity to enhance these skills while earning income through a great part-time job.

Live in McTyeire International House, an on-campus residence that houses 97 students in single dormitory rooms. McTyeire residents include American and international students and faculty that live side-by-side and communicate daily in one of five foreign languages: Chinese, French, German, Japanese, and Spanish. Living in McTyeire enables students to improve their language proficiency through daily language use and communication across cultures.

Join a multicultural or international student organization on campus. The International Awareness Committee (IAC) is an umbrella student organization dedicated to heightening intercultural sensitivity and global awareness at Vanderbilt, bringing together the various student groups through cultural festivals and campus events.
