The Russian program at Vanderbilt University offers students a unique opportunity to increase their language and cultural fluency while living in the comfortable and stimulating surroundings of McTyeire International House.

Members of the Russian hall are encouraged to develop their Russian language skills through:

~ a relaxed, non-competitive, welcoming atmosphere;

~ family-style meals where only Russian is spoken;

~ visits from native Russian-speaking faculty, students, and community members;

~ weekly study breaks;

~ daily interaction with fellow hall members;

~ daily interaction with the Russian hall coordinator;

~ access to current Russian language magazines, books and other materials in the McTyeire library.

While at McTyeire International House students have a chance to try a Russian study abroad experience without leaving Nashville! One of the best ways to become comfortable with a language is to live with speakers of the language, to be continually surrounded by its sounds, to use the language multiple times each day in different situations. That is exactly what the Russian hall offers!

On top of that, McTyeire has its own kitchen, chef, and dining hall; comfortable one-person rooms; multiple bathroom facilities on each floor; a well-trained staff of resident advisors; and is located in the heart of the Vanderbilt campus.
