Chancellor's Professor of Spanish, and Chair of the Department of Spanish and Portuguese Cathy L. Jrade talked about the department accomplishments during the 2007 year at the end of the year celebration.

Some of the highlights are the following: the Spanish and Portuguese Departmentwas Ranked # 1 Nationally, also Professor Edward H. Friedman, Professor William Luis, and Professor Cathy L. Jrade were named Chancellor's Professors.

Our celebration was filled with joy and comradeship. There was enthusiasm in everyone. The entire Faculty, Instructors, and Graduate Students were there to celebrate. They were all glad to be there to celebrate such accomplishments from both departments.

Marivi Zamora, wife of Professor Zamora, provided a wonderful meal for the party.

These accomplishments have influenced the departments well. They are still filled with wonderful professors and instructors along with Graduate Students, to keep the departments running smoothly each and every semester.
