Declaring a major or minor in Biological Sciences

Steps to Follow for Declaring a Major

1. Read the requirements for the majors.
2. Choose one of the three majors offered.
3. Choose an advisor (links to page with advisors & advise for choosing) from among the Biological Sciences faculty or you may wish to have a faculty member assigned to you as your advisor. Leslie Maxwell in the Department Office (BSB 1210 / x4-5450), will help you if this is the case.
4. Contact your chosen advisor and ask if he or she has room for another advisee. E-mail addresses are given on the faculty web pages.
5. Obtain three yellow major declaration cards (four if you plan a double major) from the Registrar's office in Kirkland Hall or from Terri Johnson in the department office (BSB 1210), fill them out, and take them to your advisor for signature.
6. Submit the declaration cards Leave one card with the advisor, take one to Terri Johnson in the department office, and take one to the Registrar's office.
 

Steps to Follow for Declaring a Minor

Obtain the blue minor declaration cards from the Registrar's office, and contact a member of the Biological Sciences department as described above for majors. There is only one minor in Biological Sciences; the three types of major do not apply.
