It was a huge success the first time around, so the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt is preparing to do it again. Nashville’s biggest street party celebrating the children of Middle Tennessee, We Care for Kids Day, is set for Sunday, Oct. 9. Entertainment will be provided by country music star Trace Adkins and friends. The event drew thousands of families from all around Middle Tennessee and surrounding states last year, and this year it is hoped the event will be even bigger.
The theme of We Care for Kids Day is celebrating children, so there will be street performers, booths and special stages for children, and of course the big music events as well. Activities for kids will involve nutrition, music, literacy and safety. For the first time, Childhood Cancer Survivor Day, NICU reunion and similar celebrations of life and survival will be rolled into this one-day event. Local and Vanderbilt sports teams will be represented.
First Tennessee Bank is once again sponsoring the event. Listed in “100 Best Companies to Work for in America,” “100 Best Corporate Citizens” and “100 Best Companies for Working Mothers,” the bank is a natural partner for We Care for Kids Day and Vanderbilt Children’s is grateful for their support.
