New Students: Helpful Info at Digital Life ResNet Site   printer

The historic incoming class of 2012 at Vanderbilt can access digital orientation information at Vanderbilt’s Digital Life website.

Incoming students can view podcasts about Vanderbilt’s ResNet (Residential Network) and the great discounts available to students through Vanderbilt’s Software Store.

The Digital Life ResNet site also includes information about the ResNet data, voice, and television networks, free anti-virus and anti-spyware software available to students, getting help, and helpful tips about what to bring to campus.

There’s information about protecting your online identity,  avoiding copyright violations, free and low-cost legal music downloading  options, digital video, wireless, and computer and cell phone discounts.

You’ll also find information about essential web services, configuring email, online courseware, and network storage space.

The online digital content replaces Vanderbilt’s Summer Academic Orientation Program (SOAP) of years past. Now students can access all of the orientation information at their convenience.

The incoming class is the first to participate in The Commons initiative at Vanderbilt. The Commons is a campus for first-year students and residential faculty. It is intended to foster interactivity and exchange of ideas between students and faculty, and to instill a strong sense of community.
