Immediate Action Required by ALL www.vanderbilt.edu Website Owners   printer

Summary
Vanderbilt Information Technology Services is transitioning all Vanderbilt
www.vanderbilt.edu and www3.vanderbilt.edu websites to new server hardware on June 1st. Sites with” vanity” URLs (e.g., its.vanderbilt.edu) are also affected. We have previously communicated this transition to campus technology groups. Now we need the help of all Vanderbilt webmasters as we begin the final migration of files. In order for your website to remain active after June 1, you must contact ITS before the end of April.
How

To ensure continued proper operation of Vanderbilt websites, the webmaster from each site must contact ITS to arrange for data to be copied to and tested in the new environment.

To get started, call ITS Service Delivery Manager Kate Gilbreath. You can phone Kate at (32)2-7329 or email her at
kate.gilbreath@vanderbilt.edu  After files are transferred, one or more of your team members can test your site in the new environment to ensure proper operation before it goes “live.”

When

Testing of websites in the new server environment must be completed by May 25th.
Before testing, all data must be copied to the new server environment. Data copying must occur before June 1st.

Important: Because of the volume of websites and data, ITS requests that webmasters contact us as soon as possible to coordinate data duplication and testing. To ensure that your site is ready to go May 25, you must contact us before the end of April. Please avoid delays by contacting us ASAP.

Am I Affected?

If you are a webmaster for a site on
www.vanderbilt.edu or www3.vanderbilt.edu, this applies to you. Exceptions are Sitemason, Law, Owen, and Math; these sites are not affected. If you know that a webmaster for a particular site is no longer at Vanderbilt, please contact us and let us know.
