Two Vanderbilt University student organizations have teamed up to host “Miracle on 24th Ave.,” a holiday-themed fashion show benefiting Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt on Tuesday, Dec. 8.
The show begins at 7 p.m. and will be held at Sarratt Cinema located in the Sarratt Student Center on campus. Vanderbilt student-run nonprofit organizations, Fashion for a Cause and Dance Marathon, are sponsoring the show that will feature children whose families have benefited from services provided at Children’s Hospital.
The event is open to the public. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door.
The student organizations are teaming up to raise awareness of their organizations and their causes. Since 2004, Fashion for a Cause has hosted a spring runway show to benefit a local organization. Dance Marathon is the largest student-run philanthropic organization on campus and all of the money they raise goes to Children’s Hospital.
Each spring, Dance Marathon hosts a 14-hour dance-a-thon that includes food, games, entertainment and a chance to meet some of the families who will benefit from the money raised.
Started in 1995, Children’s Miracle Network’s Dance Marathon is a national program in which more than 80 colleges and universities around the country participate by holding separate Dance Marathon events in the fall through spring.
