WHAT: Mayor Karl Dean will discuss one of his favorite authors, John Irving, at an event for Vanderbilt University students as part of a “citywide read” program through which Nashville’s residents are encouraged to read one of Irving’s works prior to the author’s visit here Nov. 8 to accept the 2008 Nashville Public Library Literary Award. WHERE: Dean’s residence at The Commons, which is located on the southeastern part of Vanderbilt’s campus near Peabody College.
