The struggling state of the arts in America and the consequences of that struggle for the nation's culture were the focus of an event July 15 at the Center for American Progress in Washington, D.C., featuring Bill Ivey, director of the Curb Center for Art, Enterprise and Public Policy at Vanderbilt University. Ivey is the author of a new book on the topic, Arts Inc., How Greed and Neglect Have Destroyed our Cultural Rights.

The discussion was introduced by Tennessee Congressman Jim Cooper. Robert Lynch, president and CEO of Americans for the Arts, was also a featured speaker.
