The president of Vanderbilt Student Government told members of the Board of Trust during their fall meeting on campus about efforts to increase student participation in study abroad programs, decrease the costs of textbooks and expand entrepreneurial opportunities for students within the framework of the university.

Most Vanderbilt staff members will find a little extra in their next paycheck this year in recognition of their efforts to see the institution through an extraordinarily challenging year.

Many schools now have extensive surveillance, monitoring and discipline programs in place to protect students. A new study co-edited by Torin Monahan of Peabody says the practice can negatively impact students.
