SUMMARY:Children's Hospital receives donation of large aquarium for neonatal nursery
DESCRIPTION:Perot Systems\, Inc. presented a 4-foot by 6-foot\, aquarium-themed painting\, along with a 65-gallon aquarium\, to the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt on Thursday. The aquarium will be installed in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit\, while the painting will be installed on the 8th floor of the hospital.\nPerot Systems puts its corporate values into action by hosting community art events around the country.  The Perot Systems Community Art Program engages health-care professionals attending the industry’s most notable conferences to complete a 6-foot art canvas\, then register their hospital to receive the finished piece of art. Perot Systems\, based in Plano\, Texas\, provides technology-based business solutions\, to the health care industry.\nArt is incorporated throughout the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt\, ranging from sculptures to paintings and interactive art. The artwork is created by young patients as well as internationally renowned artists\, and this healing arts program makes the hospital a more comfortable environment for patients\, families and staff.\nThis first aquarium-themed canvas was completed in February during the HIMSS (Health Information Management Systems Society) conference in Orlando\, Fla.\, where two associates from Vanderbilt\, Sandra McDonald and Lynn Brooks\, helped finish the painting.  The canvas is a paint-by-color creation of the Foundation for Hospital Art\, which also works closely with hospital and health systems around the country to promote art for patient healing.\nContact\: Laurie Holloway\, (615)322-4747\nlaurie.e.holloway@vanderbilt.edu [mailto\:laurie.e.holloway@vanderbilt.edu]\n
