April workshop on communication strategies for children with impairments

The Vanderbilt Kennedy Center will host a workshop on augmentative and alternative communication April 1-2. AAC offers other means of expression for children with severe communication impairments who are unable to communicate using natural speech.
A panel discussion comprised of parents who have children with disabilities and use AAC will be held Friday, April 1, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
Also, a workshop, “Curriculum Adaptations for Students with Complex Communication Needs,” will be held Saturday, April 2 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The cost is $200 for professionals and $50 for students, parents and family members.
WHERE: Vanderbilt Kennedy Center, MRL Building – Room 241
WHO: Intended for family members, students, special educators, speech-language pathologists and other professionals in related fields.
