The latest Credo Award and Five Pillar Leader Award honorees were announced March 3 at the Leadership Assembly at Langford Auditorium.
Connie Ford, director of the Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders Patient Care Center, received the Five Pillar Leader Award, which is given to colleagues who exemplify Medical Center leadership standards.
Ford's nomination read in part, “Her every action, on a daily basis, is with her patients and fellow nurses at the forefront of her mind. Connie's personality and style of leading makes everyone want to rise to the occasion in their work.” (photo by Joe Howell)
Credo Awards went to Elizabeth (Ellie) Hill, a care partner with Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Sandra Hutter, assistant manager of Vanderbilt Bone and Joint in Franklin. The award recognizes colleagues who exemplify the Medical Center's standards for service and all-around professionalism.
Hill's nomination read in part, “One night our floor was extremely busy. Everyone was just running around. I had a difficult patient who was refusing to have a Foley catheter put in, and her doctor insisted that it get put in before change of shift. Elli saw that I was really behind and offered to help me put in this catheter. Elli went into the patient's room with me, put the patient at ease by making jokes with her and helped put in the catheter with ease. And to top it off, it was not a patient that was assigned to her. She was very busy all night with her own set of patients, yet she did not hesitate for one second to help me.”
Hutter's nomination read in part, “We use the term 'boss' as a positive and loving label for Sandy Hutter. She really looks out for all of us, and we're so glad to have someone like her watching over us. ... Sandy treats each one of us as her family and friend. I had sinus surgery a few weeks ago. Sandy and her daughter came by my house after she got off work to see how I was doing and dropped off dinner for my family and myself. Not only was the dinner great, it was homemade. Sandy is the type of person that is always thinking of others and how she can help out."
