Meet punk rocker Exene Cervenka of X

Exene Cervenka, a poet, artist and singer best known as a member of the seminal Los Angeles punk band X, will visit the Vanderbilt campus this month.
The Vanderbilt community is invited to join the History of Rock class 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, in Sarratt Cinema. The class will be conducted as a question-and-answer session, so anyone who attends will have a chance to interact with the artist.
In addition to her work with X, arguable the most important band in the late 1970s – early 1980s California punk rock scene, Cervenka has recorded solo albums, worked with several side bands, written books, appeared in films, and had her mixed media artwork displayed in museums.
