The Vanderbilt Kennedy Center and the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt will offer two free 2-hour disability orientation sessions on Saturday, Nov. 14.

The sessions have been aptly named, “Journeys in Disability,” and they will provide support and educate in the following areas:
• Important terms, definitions, and relevant laws
• People-first language and civil rights issues
• Sources of information and support
• Federal, state, and local non-profit agencies
• Choices that lead to more positive outcomes
• Notebook with resources

The first session will be held from 9 to 11 a.m.  and is for parents/caregivers of children under 12.

The second session will be held 1  to 3 p.m. and is meant for adults and high school students with disabilities, their families and support personnel.
9-11 a.m. for families with children 12 and under
1-3 p.m. for family members, adults and high school students with disabilities, and support personnel
