Most of the United States reverts to standard time on the first Sunday in November. So, this Sunday, Nov. 1, is the official time change. At 1:59 a.m., clocks should be turned back to 1 a.m.

Many fire departments also encourage people to change the batteries in their smoke detectors when they change their clocks because the time change provides a convenient reminder.
