Update on H1N1 vaccine program
H1N1 injectable vaccine (the shot) is currently being provided to healthcare providers.  The date of release of H1N1 shots for university employees, originally planned for Oct. 26, will be delayed until healthcare workers in inpatient units and outpatient clinics have had an opportunity to receive the vaccine.  Please monitor the Occupational Health Web site, http://occupationalhealth.vanderbilt.edu, for updates.

H1N1 live, attenuated vaccine (the mist) is being given at the H1N1 Vaccine Clinic, in the North Lobby of Light Hall, and is available to all employees who are under 50, not pregnant and medically eligible to take this form of vaccine.

Seasonal influenza vaccine remains available at the Occupational Health Clinic and at the Light Hall H1N1 Vaccine Clinic.

The H1N1 Vaccine Advisor on the Occupational Health Web site, http://occupationalhealth.vanderbilt.edu, will indicate which form of the vaccine you should take.

Both the H1N1 and the seasonal flu injectable vaccines can be taken at the same time.

To receive the vaccine, bring your Vanderbilt ID badge to the H1N1 Vaccine Clinic, Light Hall, North Lobby. The clinic will be open:

Oct. 15 and 16:  6:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Oct. 19 – 23: 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Oct. 26 – 30: 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Symptoms of influenza include fever, body aches, runny, stuffy nose, sore throat, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. If you think you may have flu, remember to use the Flu Tool on the Occupational Health Clinic Web site for guidance about working or accessing medical care. Supervisors are reminded that there is no requirement to send ill staff to Occupational Health.  Using the Flu Tool may avoid unnecessary visits.
