Recycling opportunities abound at home football games

The Sustainability and Environmental Management Office (SEMO) will offer coordinated recycling at Vanderbilt’s home football games.
“Major events on campus present the opportunity to recycle a large amount of material that would otherwise take up space at local landfills,” said Jennifer Hackett, Vanderbilt’s recycling coordinator. “We’re excited to be able to coordinate with the student Department of Athletics, Plant Operations and Kroger, as well as student volunteers, to help capture this material before it enters the waste stream.”
Here's information on how and what to recycle at the games:
Tailgate areas
Recycling for plastic bottles and aluminum cans will be available near every Port-O-John location. Students will be present in the Tailgate area to raise awareness and hand out bags donated by the Green Hills Kroger store. Fans can put their recyclable goods into the bags and drop them off in the recycling bins.
Vandyville
There will be a number of blue recycling bins located around the Vandyville area for recycling plastic bottles and aluminum cans. Fans are encouraged to place their empty bottles and cans in the appropriate bins.
In the stadium
Clean cardboard from vendors, plastic bottles and commemorative cups will be recycled. Fans are asked to take empty bottles and cups to recycling bins placed next to trashcans on the concourse. Vendors will be leaving flattened cardboard next to their areas for pick up after the game.
Look for important recycling information and messages on the Jumbo-Tron in Vandyville.
