VU alumnae awarded prestigious PECASE award

Krista Walton, who received her Ph.D. from Vanderbilt in chemical engineering in 2005, was one of 67 recipients of the PECASE award. She was honored at a White House ceremony Friday, Dec. 19, 2008.The PECASE award (Presidential Early Career Award for Science and Engineering) recognizes outstanding scientists and engineers who, early in their careers, show exceptional potential for leadership at the frontiers of knowledge. It is the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. government on scientists and engineers beginning their independent careers.
Walton is currently an assistant professor of chemical engineering at Kansas State University.
