Vanderbilt offers a number of alternate transportation commuting options that save participants money
Vanderbilt encourages employees to use alternate transportation instead of driving to work individually. It is better both financially and for the environment. The options below can get you where you're going, while saving fuel and money and the hassle of finding parking.

Vanpool/Carpool Ride Match program
VURideMatch.com is a new dedicated ridesharing system for use only by VU faculty, staff and students. All full-time Vanderbilt employees are eligible to participate in the Vanpool/Carpool Ride Matching program. This online program matches people from similar locations who wish to share a ride to Vanderbilt.  To register, simply go online to
https://www.vmcridematch.com/Public/UserSignIn.aspx
.

You can register to find people with similar starting and ending destinations and schedules to carpool with. You can also indicate an interest in a vanpool. Vanderbilt will help coordinate a vanpool if more than eight people sign up for that option in your location.

MTA/VU Free Ride to Work Program

All full-time Vanderbilt employees, graduate students and VMC volunteers are eligible to ride free to and from campus on an MTA bus. Simply swipe your I.D. card upon boarding the bus. The I.D. can be used only for rides to and from work. Contractors, ex-employees and former graduate students are not eligible. Bus route and schedule information is available at www.nashvillemta.org or by calling (615) 862-5950.

Music City Star Discount Tickets

This RTA Commuter rail service provides up to a 60 percent discount to all full-time Vanderbilt employees. Rail stops include Lebanon, Martha, Mount Juliet, Hermitage and Donelson. A free shuttle bus service between the Nashville Riverfront Terminal and the Vanderbilt Campus coincides with train arrivals and departures. Free parking is available at Lot 127 on days you must drive to work. Shuttle service is available to and from Lot 127 from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tickets are available at Wesley Place garage, Medical Center North, Childrens Hospital and East garage. Soon, Music City Star tickets at the Vanderbilt discount will be available online. Stay tuned!

Zipcar
If you take alternate transportation, there might be some days when you still need access to a car to get to a meeting or appointment. Vanderbilt has entered into a partnership with Zipcars – five cars stationed around campus that are available to rent once you are registered. You can rent them by the day or by the hour. Gas, insurance and 180 free miles are included with every reservation. There is a yearly fee for registration and then an hourly rate for when you actually use the cars.

All Vanderbilt employees, students, and departments may apply for the Zipcar program.
