October is DigitalVU month at Vanderbilt
Online video, podcasts, Facebook, blogs, Flickr, Twitter… Online media has exploded over the past several years, and keeping up with all the different tools can seem overwhelming. The Division of Public Affairs, Information Technology Services, and other offices across campus have teamed up to plan DigitalVU, a month of workshops, lectures and demonstrations to take the mystery out of some of these tools and offer ideas about how to make them work in the classroom and beyond.

"Working with other colleagues across campus, we have planned a month of workshops, discussions and open houses to help students, faculty and staff learn about and access the different digital tools that can help enhance teaching, learning and sharing our campus with the broader community,” Beth Fortune, interim vice chancellor of public affairs, said. “We hope that this will help spark an even greater growth of the use of these innovative tools, and those we may not be even thinking of yet, as Vanderbilt continues to find more ways to share the remarkable work and discoveries that take place on our campus each day."

Events planned include a workshop on capturing, editing and uploading video, creating a blog and using Facebook and Flickr, how to podcast, and open houses at the multi-media facilities available at the Hill Center and the newly expanded Center for Teaching.
