For St. Patrick’s Day, the VU Sustainability and Environmental Management Office together with VU Plant Operations is thinking “green.” They will be sponsoring a phonebook and paper recycling drive from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Monday, March 17.

There will be dumpsters in three locations to collect the paper:
o    Peabody Recycling Center (Behind the Commons Dining Center)
o    Branscomb
o    Divinity

If you have large amounts to recycle, you may also bring your ID to one of the stations to check out a wheeled toter to take back to your office and load up.

In addition to phone books (Yellow Pages, White Pages and VU Directories), you can also bring magazines, files, soft cover books, hard cover books (need to get rid of any old textbooks?), newspapers and any kind of paper, white and colored.

Paper clips and staples are OK. Corrugated cardboard is not (although there is a special recycling area for it behind The Commons that you can access any time).

Volunteers also needed: There needs to be at least two people at each dumpster location. Shifts are one hour. Go to www.mysignup.com/vurecycling if you’d like to volunteer.

Rain date: Light rain will not affect the drive. If there is heavy rain and/or lightning, Tuesday, March 18 will be the rain date.
