Vanderbilt Opera Theater offers Woodstock-style production of Mozart's 'The Magic Flute'
Mozart’s The Magic Flute gets a ‘60s makeover in Vanderbilt Opera’s production of one of the most beloved works in the operatic repertoire.

Complete with tie-dye costumes and all libretto and songs in English, this Woodstock-style production takes place Friday, Nov. 9, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 11, at 2 p.m. in Blair School of Music’s Ingram Hall.

The diverse and incredible music ranges from the catchy "folksy" tunes to the flourishing, intricate arias of The Queen of the Night. Since its premiere The Magic Flute has always been one of the most beloved works in the operatic repertoire, and is presently the tenth most frequently performed opera in North America.

Robin Fountain, conductor of the Vanderbilt Orchestra, serves as orchestra master for the fully costumed, staged and orchestrated production.

Although the production is open to all audiences, it does contain some mature subject matter and is recommended for audience over the age of 13.

Free parking is available in South Garage, next to the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital on Children’s Way.
