Great Performances presents BalletLab in Origami Sat., Sept. 29
Great Performances celebrates its legacy of contemporary dance with the U.S. tour premiere for Australia's leading company, BalletLab, and the work Origami. Created in the spirit of Japanese pop-up art, artistic director Philip Adams unfolds his work in a stunning display of athleticism.

Dancers fold, turn, and roll ingeniously in a human puzzle repertoire executed with mythological sensibility. Composer David Chisholm's baroque-influenced writings are modulated by electronics in a fantasy filled with the ancient Japanese paper-folding art of origami.

Nashville is the United States premiere site for the company's 2007-08 tour. The performance begins at 8 p.m., Sept. 29, in Ingram Hall.  Tickets for faculty and staff are $14. To get the staff and faculty price, tickets must be purchased at the Sarratt Center Box Office or at the door. There will also be a post-show conversation with the audience.

A master class will be held on Saturday, Sept. 29, from 10:30 a.m. until noon in Memorial Gymnasium. For more information, visit www.vanderbilt.edu/dance.
