Brett Sweet, dean of administration and finance of Harvard University’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences, has been named vice chancellor and chief financial officer at Vanderbilt University, Chancellor Nicholas S. Zeppos announced.
Marshall Eakin, a history professor noted for excellence in teaching and strong commitment to Vanderbilt's service learning initiatives, has been named director of the Ingram Scholars Program.
Vanderbilt was the only organization in Nashville to be named a 2009 Shining Star Award recipient by the Tennessee Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Health.
Each year, the VPD recognizes fellow officers, civilian support personnel and members of the community for their dedication to duty and commitment to law enforcement and Vanderbilt University.


While there are many uncertainties in today’s economy, including an 8.5 percent national unemployment rate, nursing remains a recession-resilient profession. There are important shifts taking place within the nursing workforce in this climate, but the future for nursing is as bright as ever.
While Apple CEO Steve Jobs was not a patient at Vanderbilt, the question of whether patients are able to improve their chances of more quickly receiving a liver transplant soon became the focus of discussion.
