1/27/2012 Become the next OECD Student Ambassador and Win a FREE Trip to Paris: As we begin our third year of this highly successful program, the OECD Washington Center is inviting undergraduate students from different campuses across the US and Canada to apply for this exciting year-long ambassadorship. Our goal is to select well-qualified and motivated students with demonstrated interest in economics and international relations. The student ambassadors will engage with the OECD and plan activities to raise awareness of the organization and its work on their campuses. The time commitment will include: an initial training weekend in Washington, DC on June 2nd and 3rd 2012 and work should not exceed 40 hours per semester. Based on their performance, two student ambassadors will be invited to attend the OECD Forum in Paris in May/June 2013. Expenses for both of these trips plus a budget related to promotional activities on campus will be paid by the OECD. All other Student Ambassadors who have successfully completed the program will receive a certificate of participation and a letter of recommendation. Please, email me for more information. Tutors for Athletics: As the Tutor Coordinator in the Department of Student Athletics, I oversee the Tutoring Program for our undergraduate student-athletes. We are seeking qualified applicants to fill tutoring positions. Some of our student-athletes have requested tutors for ECON 100, ECON 209 and ECON 268 this semester. After speaking with our current tutors, we do not have enough individuals able to help with these courses. We were hoping to get the information sent out to undergraduate and graduate students that may be interested in tutoring. Any help that you could give me would be much appreciated! Also, we pay our tutors $10-15/hour and all tutoring does take place in the Stratton Foster Academic Center in McGugin Center. I appreciate your time. Any interested students can go to our web site to look at the requirements and fill out an "Interested in Tutoring" form: http://www.vanderbilt.edu/studentathletes/services.html#four

1/9/2012 Summer Fellowship The American Institute for Economic Research (AIER) offers a summer fellowship program for graduating seniors in economics. Information about our summer fellowships is on our website (www.aier.org). The program is in Great Barrington, MA 01230, in the Berkshires about 1/2 hour from Tanglewood. Albany, NY, is the nearest airport. We aim our program at graduating seniors (principally but not exclusively economics majors) who are going on to graduate school (Ph.D. programs strongly preferred) in economics or an approved related field. For information, go to our website, www.aier.org, and then go to the "fellowships" tab. Then hit the "summer fellowships" tab beneath it. A Vanderbilt grad student in economics, Melissa King, was in our program last summer. Research Assistant at the Federal Reserve Board Research Assistant (RA) positions are available at the Federal Reserve Board. Our positions are highly competitive; each year we hire approximately 20-30 recent undergraduates as RAs. While at the Board, RAs work on a broad range of topics and have the opportunity to increase their quantitative skills by working on both real-world policy issues and high-level research projects. After their time at the Board, many of our RAs move on to top graduate school programs. Additionally, we offer summer internships for economics, mathematics, and finance students to work on advanced research projects with Board economists.
