FIPSE/CAPES Summer Program, 2007

How To Apply (Vanderbilt Students)

Applications for FIPSE/CAPES grants are now being accepted for students wishing to study in Brazil in summer or fall of 2008.

This program is open to undergraduate and graduate students who have a 3.0 GPA, who possess the necessary proficiency in Portuguese, and whose course work relates to the program's theme of  "Multicultural Diversity, Social Inequalities, and the Pursuit of Health in Brazil and the United States".

The FIPSE grants are $4500 for the semester and tuition is waived at the participating Brazilian universities.

If you are interested in applying, please contact either of the FIPSE/CAPES co-directors, Jane Landers  (jane.landers@vanderbilt.edu) or Marshall Eakin (marshall.c.eakin@vanderbilt.edu), to learn more about the program.

You will need to submit a completed application form, two letters of reference, and required documentation (a current university transcript, a two-page statement of interest, and two photos).

The second phase of the application process consists of an interview conducted in Portuguese by a committee that will include the co-directors and a former student participant.

The deadline for receipt of application materials is April 18, 2008.
