SUMMARY:Short-term parking improvements made in Rand-Sarratt area
DESCRIPTION:The demand for short-term parking for access to the Rand-Sarratt complex has continued to increase\, but there is no availability of open space to add new parking.\nTraffic and Parking is experimenting with several solutions to the issue\:\n•    Encouraging those on campus to walk when possible\, so that off-campus visitors can use the metered spaces near Rand’s Vanderbilt Place entrance has been and will continue to be critical.\n•    Creating more metered spaces in Lots 15 and 63 with shorter parking times for greater turnover.\no    The existing meters in Lot 15 have been converted from 1-hour meters to 20-minute meters to handle more volume. \no    The 8 spaces in Lot 63 (diagonal spaces across side street\, 24th\, from Branscomb) have been changed from Zone 3 to 1-hour metered spaces.    \n“We hope the additional number of meters and the variety of meter times make it easier for faculty\, staff\, students and visitors to find short term parking in the area. These meters are located near the Post Office and Bookstore\, thus providing a convenient way for you to pick up heavy packages or make a quick run to the Bookstore or Info desk for tickets\,” said Lance Hale\, manager of Traffic & Parking.  “These changes should also prevent the need to park in the fire lanes behind Buttrick\, which creates safety problems and results in parking citations.” \nStudents\, faculty\, staff and visitors with longer term parking needs are encouraged to use the 2-hour meters available on Garland and Jess Neely. There are also hourly/daily paid parking spaces are available in the Wesley Place and Terrace Place garages.  \nContact\: Lance Hale\, Manager of Traffic & Parking\, (615)  322-2554.\n
