
Repository without fossils and with rocks/minerals.

Here is the project before it began. This room was formerly our repository.
Alum Alma Paty was hired to document, inventory, and identify as much of the the EES Repository items as possible. Alma's commitment and passion for this project was noted by everyone involved.
Almost all of the Vanderbilt University fossil collection was donated to the Pink Palace in Memphis and was coordinated by Mike Gibson, UT-Martin. Portions of the Vanderbilt University Rock and Mineral collection were donated to the MTSU Mineral, Gem, & Fossil Museum with help from Albert Ogden, MTSU. A small collection of coal is being donated to the University of Kentucky Center for Applied Energy Research with the assistance of Jim Hower. Three pallets of books and journals are being donated through the AAPG Publication Pipeline.
Several items were identified and sold to collectors including: several pearwood models, a Stoe Type A goniometer, a set of black and white stereoscope image pairs.
The VU EES department also coordinated a Rock and Mineral Giveaway to Middle and High School science teachers in Davidson, Williamson, and Rutherford counties. Several large storage cabinets were donated to the VU Art Department. A donation of
Our plan for the new lab space will incorporate a significant amount of exisiting furniture (tables, storage cases, chairs, etc.).
Hallway flooring material will come from a nearby TN quarry and is comprised of
bioturbated Pennsylvanian sandstone.
