Vanderbilt's College of Arts and Science, Vanderbilt Law School and Owen Graduate School of Management cosponsored the Baseball Economics
Conference
, February 21, 2003.

Baseball Economics was designed around four two-hour sessions that focused on competitive balance, baseball and the law, labor-management relations, and contraction. Each session consisted of invited papers and a panel of discussants. Participants were scholars, sports writers, attorneys and representatives of the MLB and MLB Players' Association, who looked at the most crucial issues affecting major league baseball. Papers will be published in a special volume of the Journal of Sports Economics in November 2003. Sports writer Allen Bara delivered the luncheon address. Conference organizers were Allen Sanderson of the University of Chicago and John Siegfried of Vanderbilt University.
