Every August in the week before classes begin the Director of College Writing offers workshops for graduates students teaching "W" classes in English, Comparative Literature, and Philosophy. These workshops are required annually for all graduate student instructors of "W" classes. The Philosopy Workshop is always held on the Thursday before classes start; English and Comp Lit on the Saturday before classes start; first-time English and Comp Lit TAs also meet on Friday (afternoon only) before classes start.
