Computer-Aided Writing Instruction (CAI)

A number of English Department's "W" classes and several Women's Studies classes each semester make use of the Daedalus Integrated Writing Environment (DIWE) to enhance the teaching of writing.  Classes using DIWE will typically meet in the Garland Computer lab from four to eight times; all other meetings are in the usual classroom.   If you would like to look into using DIWE in your class, please contact the Coordinator of Computer-Assisted Writing, susan.crisafulli@vanderbilt.edu  For more information on DIWE generally, see their website - www.daedalus.com ; for instructor's information on usage, see the links below.

Daedalus On-line Handbook:  To use the most current version of the Handbook select "Help" while in the DIWE system or see the DIWE coordinator for a hard copy.

In the future, an increasing number of classes will suplement or replace writing instruction in the lab with asynchronous computer instruction, using either a new Web-based version of DIWE or other Web-based courseware.
