Declaring a major or minor in Biological Sciences

Steps to Follow for declaring a Major

  1. Read the requirements for the majors
  2. Choose one of the three majors offered.
  3. Download the Declaration of Major form ( the forms are listed below, you will need two copies)
  4. Choose an advisor (links to page with advisors & advice for choosing) from among the Biological Sciences Faculty or you may wish to have a Faculty member assigned to you as your advisor. Barbara Sidwell in the Department Office (BSB 1210), will help you if this is the case.
  5. Contact your chosen advisor and ask if he or she has room for another advisee. E-mail addresses are given on the faculty web pages.
  6. Have your advisor sign the Declaration of Major forms. Turn one in to the department (Barbara Sidwell) and another to the Dean's Office in 311 Kirkland Hall.

Steps to Follow for Declaring a Minor

Download the minor declaration form,(listed above) and contact a member of the Biological Sciences department as described above for obtaining an advisor. There is only one minor in Biological Sciences, independent of any of three majors.
