NMR User Policies

 

Users are expected to operate the instrument from their OWN account. Sharing accounts is NOT permitted. If you require an account, please fill out the "Account Request Form" located on the Small Molecule NMR Webpage and you will be added to the user list at the earliest convenience.

 

NMR Reservations

 

NMR time is reserved by accessing the Small Molecule NMR Homepage.  The web address is http://sitemason.vanderbilt.edu/annmr.  Times are separated into two categories: “Open” (green) and “Walk” (blue).  Open blocks can be reserved up to a week in advance while Walk blocks are limited for reservation to the specific day (i.e. walk on time for Tuesday CAN NOT be reserved any other day expect Tuesday).

 

DPX-300

 

Open” time slots can be reserved up to a week in advance.  Users are limited to reserving ONE overnight period in advance per week.  Additional overnight periods can be reserved if the time slot is available at the end of the walk-on period for that day. 

 

Walk” times are only available for reservation on the same day and are limited to TWO consecutive 10 minute blocks and FOUR total blocks per day per user.  Additional slots may be reserved if time is available but please be considerate of the NMR needs of other facility users.  

 

DRX-400

 

Open” time slots on the DRX-400 (8:00 AM – 1:00 PM ; 4:00 PM – overnight) can also be reserved up to a week in advance.  Initial limits are 6 consecutive 30 minute blocks per day.  Experiments that require more than 3 hours need to be approved by NMR staff PRIOR to reservation.

 

Walk” times (1:00 PM – 4:00 PM) are only available for reservation on the same day and are limited to TWO consecutive 10 minute blocks and FOUR total blocks per day per user.  Additional slots may be reserved if time is available but please be considerate of the NMR needs of other facility users.  

 

 

DRX-500

 

Open” time slots on DRX-500 can also be reserved up to a week in advance.  Initial limits are 6 consecutive 30 minute blocks per day.  Experiments that require more than 3 hours need to be approved by NMR staff PRIOR to reservation.

 

AV-II-600

 “Open” time slots on AV-II-600 can  be reserved up to a week in advance.  ALL reservation requests for this spectrometer must be approved by NMR Staff PRIOR to reserving time on the NMR schedule.   THIS SPECTROMETER IS NOT INTENDED FOR WALK-UP USE!! Only users specifically trained on appropriate Cryo-Probe usage are permitted to use this spectrometer on their own. All others users must use this spectrometer under the direct supervision of the NMR Staff.

 

 

* Users who reserve more than their allotted time limits will have their unauthorized reservations removed by the NMR staff and are subject to a temporary suspension of their reservation privileges*

 

 

Cancellation of NMR Time Policy

Unwanted NMR reservations should be cancelled 30 minutes PRIOR to the reservation for both Open and Walk time slots.  To unreserved time, log out, log back in and simply select the “unreserve” icon and click on “Execute”. 

 

Users that fail to appear for their reservation or do not cancel their reservations within the 30 min limit WILL BE CHARGED for that time period.  NO EXCEPTIONS MADE!!! If for some reason you are unable to access the online reservation system to cancel your time please call the NMR lab and notify the NMR staff that you will not be using your reservation.
